Get Your Game On, Gladiator Style!
http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/yugioh/en/news/strategy.aspx?aid=3631

Hey there, Duelists! If you're like Jaden, Zane, or Jesse, you probably win your Duels by making big attacks with your favorite monsters. The right attack at the right time can wipe out your opponent's cards and damage their Life Points, so making sweet attacks is a big part of any Duelist's game plan.

That's why the new monsters from the Gladiator's Assault booster are so cool! They're called the Gladiator Beasts, and each one gives you more power just for battling.

The Ultimate Tag Team

Most of the Gladiator Beasts has a special ability that looks like this:

At the end of the Battle Phase, if this card attacked or was attacked, you can return it to the Deck to Special Summon 1 "Gladiator Beast" monster from your Deck . . .

This means that any time one of your Gladiator Beasts battles and survives, you get to tag it out for another Gladiator Beast from your Deck! That's a great effect, because each Gladiator Beast gets another ability when it's tagged in. "Gladiator Beast Laquari" goes to 2100 ATK, while "Gladiator Beast Hoplomus's" DEF becomes 2400. Those are some pretty huge monsters. "Gladiator Beast Bestiari" lets you destroy any Spell or Trap Card on the field when he's Summoned, and "Gladiator Beast Murmillo" can blow away any face-up monster!

No matter what you're up against, there's a Gladiator Beast to help you out. There's even a Gladiator that can attack twice each turn, and one that can Special Summon two more Gladiator Beasts from your Deck!

No Tributes Needed

One of the sweetest things about playing with the Gladiator Beasts is that they don't need to Tribute for their biggest monsters—they can just use their special abilities to bring them out from the Deck.

" Gladiator Beast Alexander" has 2400 ATK, which is enough power to match monsters like "Jinzo" or "Raiza the Storm Monarch." You can only bring him out with "Gladiator Beast Dimacari," the double-attacker, but Alexander's more than just a powerhouse in battle: he's also not affected by Spells! Cards like "Brain Control" and "Smashing Ground" cannot put a stop to this Gladiator.

"Gladiator Beast Octavius" is even bigger, wielding a mighty 2500 ATK! Octavius is the biggest of the Gladiator Beasts, and he lets you destroy a face-down Spell or Trap Card when he hits the field. You can Special Summon Octavius with most of Gladiator Beast, so that means you'll have little problem bringing a 2500 ATK monster to the field for no Tributes!

Bringing It All Together

There are a lot of cards you can use to help your Gladiator Beasts. Some of the best Gladiators have low ATK scores, so Spells that make battling easier can be really good. "Shrink" and "Enemy Controller" can give your Gladiators an edge in battle. Cards that let your Gladiator Beasts battle any monster are great too—"Defensive Tactics" does just that. Some of the Gladiator Beasts' pets are a real help too. Here's one way you could build your very own Gladiator Beast Deck!

Monsters: 21

2 Gladiator Beast Octavius

1 Gladiator Beast Alexander

3 Gladiator Beast Laquari

3 Gladiator Beast Dimacari

1 Gladiator Beast Bestiari

2 Gladiator Beast Murmillo

1 Gladiator Beast Hoplomus

2 Test Ape

3 Test Tiger

1 Sangan

1 Snipe Hunter

1 Breaker the Magical Warrior

Spells: 11

1 Heavy Storm

1 Mystical Space Typhoon

1 Brain Control

1 Smashing Ground

3 Shrink

1 Premature Burial

1 Gladiator Beast's Battle Manica

1 Lightning Vortex

1 Enemy Controller

Traps: 8

3 Defensive Tactics

2 Parry

1 Mirror Force

1 Call of the Haunted

1 Torrential Tribute

"Defensive Tactics" is a Trap Card made just for the Gladiator Beasts! It protects your monsters from being destroyed in battle, and it keeps you from taking Battle Damage. Flip it up when your opponent attacks a Gladiator Beast—your monster won't get destroyed, but it did battle, so you'll get to tag out to another Gladiator! You can even use "Defensive Tactics" on your turn. If you do that, you could send smaller Gladiators against bigger monsters just to tag them out!

"Test Tiger" is one of the best cards for any Gladiator Beast Deck. You can Special Summon it from your hand any time you've got a Gladiator on the field. Then, its effect lets you Tribute "Test Tiger" to tag out any Gladiator Beast you control and bring in another. You can destroy a Trap with Octavius's ability before heading into battle, or you could wreck a big monster thanks to Murmillo. Any Gladiator Duelist will want a few copies of "Test Tiger"!

The Gladiator Beasts are all about teamwork. Because each one has a different effect, you'll want to put a lot of different Gladiator Beasts into your Deck, and you should play extras of your favorites. The more Gladiator Beasts you got, the stronger you get, so get ready to unleash the power of Gladiator's Assault!
